CONCLUSI~LS <br /> <br />(1) The proposed site is suitable far construction of the proposed <br />embanlorent sections and other structures with details and <br />precautions as outlined in this report. <br />(2) The existing foundation soils typically consist of fine sands and <br />silts and coarse granular soils in the lower elevations adjacent <br />to the river and stiff to hard clays with mixed bedrock fragments <br />in the higher plateau area. The upper fine sands a~ silts <br />generally exhibit low to moderate compressibility, whereas some <br />of the clays exhibit a swell potential. Foundation treatment <br />below eabanl®ents will germsrally consist of vegetation and <br />topsoil strippi~ and plrrxsvent of a keyway trench. <br />(3) Near surface silty to clay sands and clays are suitable for use <br />as the principal constituent of the embanlaoent section. Consid- <br />`~ <br />eying the abundancE of these soils a~ lack of suitable semi- <br />pervious a~ pervious material which would be required for zoned <br />construction, a modified homogeneous etnbanlarent appears frost <br />feasible. Any granular or bedrock fragment material derived <br />on-site should be used in he downstream outer shell. <br />(4) A blanket and toe drain system should be provided to intercept <br />potential seepage and lower the line of saturation. Due to the <br />apparent shallow water table and pervious soils at fresh water <br />pond #2, use of a relatively impervious liner will probably also <br />be required. The liner can be constructed with on-site clays or <br />consist of a synthetic material. <br /> <br />
