The drainage ditches range
from 3 to 6 feet deep an the North side of this Hwy, to 4 and 7 feet deep on the south side of the Hwy. The
Drainage ditch on the south side of this Hwy runs water constantly, as the ditch drains ground water on a
constant basis. The Homing of this ground water has caused this ditch to slough off in numerous azeas, the
water stands apptoxunately 1 foot deep at all times in this ditch. My concern with allowing this minim
permit to be issued, is of public safety. We don't have allot of heavy truck traffic on this Hwy presently, we
do have numerous farmers who move farm machinery up and down this Hwy on a regular basis, as we all
know, farm equipment is very big th nature and slow moving. When ever someone is trying to move
equipment on this Hwy, they will take up the complete Hwy at times, with motorist giving right of way to
said farmers, because getting off of Hwy u impossible. Because of these deep drainage ditches as I
described earlier. A car can pull into a driveway and escape this allot easier, than a large commercial vehicle
pulling a trailer.
i do not feel that this Hwy, will hold the added weight of the gravel trucks that will transport gravel from
this mine, because of the ground water, and sloughing of the ground next to the Hwy now. We all know
that heavy trucks do allot of damage to roads that are in good shape, but the road that these trucks will have
to travel too and from this mine, is in no way, in good enough shape.
1 have next to my driveway a problem with trees (brush) growing in the drainage ditch, which i asked the
State Hsvy dept. to remove, when they Dame out thoy out down these treeserid told ma that removing theeo - -
trees could possibly weakrn the banks of this Hwy, and cause damage to the road. These trees grow back
every yeaz, and impair my vision getting on this hwy. I know that as rural as this area is, these trucks wiD
be moving along at a fast rate of speed, when going by my drive way. This will add a very dangerous
situation to getting on this Hwy.
Their are numerous other concerns with other local people in this area, and we do hope that you will
consider our plea's when making your decision.
Thank you
~/ f ~~
Teny~E.
