Box 1299
Paonia, Colorado 81428
RE: Orchard Valley Mine, C-81-038, Second Quarter 1990 Reports
Dear Mr. Menke:
The Division has reviewed this quarterly report. We have the following
concerns:
1. Item 11 of the Quarterly Waste Disposal Area Inspection Report
states that a portion of the waste pile doesn't meet compactive
standards as stated in TR 07. What provisions are being taken to
rectify this situation?
2. The East Roatcap Creek monitoring Report shows nearly a year and
one half period of 0.004 CFS flow rates through spring thaws,
winter and Sumner periods. Since March, 1990 no flow rates were
taken. With the wide fluctuations in TSS and TDS levels during
this period it seems difficult to assume that a static flow pattern
existed. Please clarify this situation.
The pond inspections and NPDES Reports appear to be in order and proper.
We thank you for this report and await your responses to the two above
questions.
Sincerely,
.~~1~ ~
J.
