Excavation Plan
The permit area will be excavated to provide sand material for off-
~ property projects. The excavation will proceed from south to north
in four phases. Except when the Creel; runs at'ter storm events, the
operation will~be a dry pit operation. Equipment is stored outside
of the dry Creek bed area. When the Creek flows, the operation
ceases until the area drys-up so excavation can be continued.
• T}iere is no exact timetable for beginning and ending excavation.
Beginning will be determined by when the two needed permits IMLRB
and County) are issued, and an available user desires the material.
Ending will be dependent iinon the amount of demand and the amount
and quality of the excavated material. The operation is expected
to last up to 10 years.
~ Since there is no surface topsoil, no surface material will be
stripped for later revegetation. For each phase, excavation will
proceed from south to north. Material will be excavated using
backhoes and other equipment. It map be loaded directly into
tracks, or stockpiled. The floor of the excavation will be }lave a
. minimum slope of 2%. The side slopes will not be left steeper than
1 to 1 temporarily, and 4 to 1 for final reclamation.
Since this is a dry pit operation, there will be no affect or
in.jur,y to any water rights. No processing of the material e.ill be
undertaken, e>:cept possibly washing. Water for washing and dust
• control will be obtained from one of the shallow permitted wells on
the property owned by the applicant. Watering of stockpiles and the
access road for control fugitive dust emissions will be undertaken
as needed.
The haul route for transport of material from the site will utilize
~ the existing access road to Calhoun-Byers Mile koad, then south to
Byers. That County road is gravel from the entrance south for 1
1/`l miles, then is paved.
The operation will normally operate from 7:OU A.M until 7:00 P.M.
five da.vs a week. Hoeaever, since there are no homes within the
~ area, no restrictions are proposed on days or hours of operation.
This which would allow the operator to increase the hours and days
of operation for a .job needing a rapid supply of material.
A map on the next page shows the pre-mining conditions and the
mining plan graphically.
•
•
10
•
