000
March 14, 2002
Janet Binns
Environmental Protection Specialist
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 _ _ _
Denver, Colorado 80203
RE: Review of Reports
Pennit No. C-81-044
Deaz Ms. Binns:
Empire Corporation
P.O. Box 68
Craig, CO 81626
(970) 624-4173
RECE~~ED
MAR ' ~ 2002
8ivisien of Minerals and Geology
RAG Empire Corporation periodically receives notices from the Division indicating that they have
reviewed a report and have no concerns with it. Rag Empire requests that the Division no longer send this
type of notice. RAG Empire assumes if it does not hear from the Division then the submitted report has
been found acceptable. The only correspondence RAG Empire will receive on a submitted report is if the
Division does have comments or concerns about the content of it.
Janet, I believe the above process will benefit both RAG Empire and the Division. The Division will save
time and money (postage, paper, envelope and letter prepazation time) by not having to forwazd an
everything is OK letter to RAG Empire. Likewise, RAG Empire wilt save time and money by not having
to handle this type of correspondence. The correspondence ends up in the trash, as it does not create any
value for the mine.
If this proposal is accepted then I can also claim credit on my P2 program for reducing a waste stream and
also saving. the state some dollars and resources. This certainly will be a win win for both parties.
I look forward to receiving your thoughts on this proposal. If there are questions, please contact me at
your convenience.
Sincerely,
Richard Mills
Environmental Manager
Cc: David Berry ~ ~ . . _
.
