EXHIBIT D
CASTLE SAND PIT
MINING PLAN
The Sand Pit Operation is situated on 31 acres of land in
which 28 acres are used as an open pit sand extraction operation.
This mine has been operated by Castle Concrete for several years and
will continue to operate in the following manner:
The extraction of sand from Tracts "A", "B", and "C"
(Exhibit C2) will continue as front-end loaders load trucks which
then transport the sand to the Sand Flant Operation, a distance
of approximately 1 mile. This operation is expected to continue
on Tract "A" for a period of approximately 2 years at which time
Castle Concrete Company will convert this 10 acres of land to a
sanitary landfill project. Sand extraction will continue in Tracts
"B" and "C" until all the quality sand is moved and then both these
areas, totaling approximately 18.2 acres, will be turned into a
sanitary landfill project.
Past experiences have proven that water diversion or
impoundment is not required on this site.
Original soils on ttie Sand Pit site were Blakeland loamy
Sand. The surface layer being loamy coarse sand about 14 inches
thick. Sand extraction from this pit is expected to be approximately
95 feet deep. The underlying deposits usually consist of shale.
`.,
CR3 34-32-113
