G~'RAL: The following information and recommendations <br />apply to the four limestone q»=~-*~+es listed in Title I. <br />These four sites have essentially the same soil and the <br />same natural plant ccmmunities. In addition, a separate <br />paragraph is included dealing specifically with the <br />Queens Car~yoa Quarry. <br />( B. ISIVr.37TCRY <br />1. Soils <br />Paunaaugunt soils or soils similar to Paunsaugunt occur on <br />the Queens Canyon Quarry, the Pikeview Quarry, the Sx~yder <br />Quarry, and the Stack Land Quarry. <br />The Pauaeaugunt soil is shallow and somewhat extensively <br />drained. It is formed in reaidium from limestone. <br />Typically, the surface layer is dark grayish brown gravelly <br />I <br />loam about 6 inches thick. The underlying layers aza lighter <br />I <br />colored very gravelly loama. Hard limestone bedrock usually ' <br />occurs at a depth of about 17 inches. About !}0 percent of the <br />surface is covered with gravel and flaggy material. <br />
