Recommendations and concerns expressed by the Division Staff at We meeting were:
a) The Division should be provided with baseline and current depths to groundwater
in the proposed, currently permitted, and reclaimed areas.
b) If the ridge to the east of the permit area is to be mined, all available topsoil
should be salvaged and replaced as part of the reclamation.
c) If the Land Board wishes to maintain the mature cottonwoods, mining should be
limited to no deeper than eight feet lower than the base of the trees, and no more
than two feet below the surface of the groundwater table. No mining should
extend below the drip-line of the trees.
d) Leafy spurge is a major problem at the site. The operator is required, under the
Mineral Rules and Regulations, to control weeds on the mine site.
M:wsavR.+mi9u:M.oas
