• i. PROJECT LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION
This analysts was performed on the Loma Prospect for Sheridan
Enterprises, Inc.., located in Garfield County, Colorado, to a historic
drainage sub-basin which drains to Munger Creek and into East Salt Creek.
This sub-basin Is in turn divided into smaller watersheds for calculations.
II. METHOD OF ANALYSIS AND PROCEDURE
Runoff rates were calculated based upon the methods presented in
Technical Manual No. 1, a Manual for Estimating Flood Characteristics
of Natural-flow Streams In Colorado. The U.S. Geological Survey prepared
this manual in cooperation with the Colorado Water Conservation Board.
The Loma Prospect is located on a stream that is not near a Gaged Site
with reference to the manual. Therefore regression equations.are explained
and derived in the manual.
• The site Is located in the Southern Plateau Region, one of four
regions Colorado Ts divided into by the manual. The Southern Plateau
Region comprises most of Southwestern Colorado and includes the tribu-
Caries of the Colorado River up to an elevation of 7,500 feet.
The Drainage Aspects drawing shows the watersheds within the entire
drainage basin surrounding the Loma site. Runoff was calculated with
reference to the manual for each watershed. Size of culverts to pass
flow under access road was based upon this runoff quantity.
A 10-year flow was used for the design year return period. All
calculations are Included In a latter part of this report.
u
~j_
