DISCUSSION <br />Colorado law defines acute toxicity as a statistically signif- <br />icant difference, at the 95% confidence level, between mortality in <br />the control and in any effluent concentration equal to or less than <br />the instream waste concentration, or, as 500 or greater mortality <br />in any effluent concentration. <br />Results indicate that the effluent sample from the Bear Coal <br />Company is acutely toxic to C. dubia. Accelerated testing is <br />scheduled in December using C. dubia.
