from the site and temporarily stockpiled adjacent to the area to be excavated. The disturbance associated with the
construction of the filter is approximately 0.06 acres. After the gravel has been placed in the excavation, the gravel
• extends to within approximately 2 feet of the surface and encompasses an area of approximately I5'x I5', the spoil
material will be placed back into the remaining open excavation. The spoil will be graded to blend in with the
topography and the topsoil reapplied. The topsoil will be seeded with the pastureland seed mixture. It is
anticipated that the topsoil will be redistributed during late March or early April, depending upon field condition.
The disturbance lies upstream of a rock filter dam, which controls runoff from the area. The combination of the
rock filter, vegetation filter and rapid reclamation of the site will provide secondary sediment control for the site.
Stock Water Pond Line
A stock water pond water line was tied into TCC's existing number 6 well and water can be pumped up to a pond
located on bond release area south of the portal area. The location of the buried line is shown on Map 24, Surface
Facilities. The line will remain after reclamation has occurred so no reclamation or bond information is included.
Fueling Facility
A new surface gas tank was installed on the northeastern corner of the equipment parking area. The location is
shown on Map 24, Surface Facilities. The new tank is of double wall construction, and as per a recent discussion
with CDOH staff, the double wall tank satisfies the secondary containment requirements for the tank. The tank was
placed on a concrete pad, and the pad has metal posts strategically placed to minimize damage to the tank.
In addition to the gas tank another storage tank may be placed on [he pad. This additional storage tank will hold
magnesium chloride, which is a dust suppressant used on surface and underground roads.
• Once the facility is no longer required the tanks will be removed and either reused or discarded. The concrete pad
will be placed in the portal area and covered during final reclamation.
A diesel tank will be added at the fueling site. The tank will be of double wall construction and placed on a
concrete pad. The location of the tank is shown on Map 24, Surface Facilities. When the tank is no longer required i
it will be removed and the concrete pad will be placed in the portal area.
Materials Storage Areas
A number of areas located around [he site are utilized for equipment/materials storage and handling. Primary areas
include the area around the PM Bay, the pads near the bathhouse, the warehouse and welding shop yards and pads,
the area above the stoker pad, in front of the shop area, the dry storage area near the portal, and the Tipple 2 yard.
Additional areas include equipment storage pads below the Warehouse, [he Pond T/ Explosives Bunker area,
beltline storage area along Haulroad A, temporary storage near Pond B, and the area across from Tipple 2 in the
area of the old Lube Facility site. Additionally, there are equipment staging and handling areas along the PM Bay
access road for equipment assembly and preparation, primarily in association with longwall moves. Locations of
the areas are shown on Map 24 (Surface Facilities and Freshwater System). The materials storage areas near the
stoker pad, at the PM Bay, at the base of the portal ramp, near the light duty bay, and across from the shop are
also permitted for the handling and storage of non-coal wastes per Rule 4.11.4(1). There are four primary
garbage-handling areas, these being located near the portal, in front a[ and behind the warehouse/shop area, and
near [he PM Bay. Other small satellite areas such as the Tipple and Operations Center are served by smaller
dumpsters, which are periodically emptied.

MR 00-170 2.05-22 11/20/00
