• 4.8.1.5a Oceretional Surface Water Quality. 1981-1988
Seven operational surface water sites have been sampled during the years 1981-1988. These
sites are labeled NPDES 001 through 003 and NPDES 005 through 008 and an: given on Map
M52. The samples were analyzed for a ma~dmum of appro>amately 25 parameters. The results
of the analysis are given in Table 4.8-8a. Sdes 001, 002, 005, 007 and 008 will be discussed
further. Table 4.8-Sb lists NPDES sites and their associated drainage.
Site 001 is located in Johnson Gulch. The ma~dmum flow measured from 1981 through 1988 at
001 was 800 GPM. The TDS concentrations generally, as effected, showed a negative
correlation with discharge rate, though the relationship shows a lot of scatter. The TDS values
ranged from 240 to 2550 mg/I. The average TDS concentration was 1280 mg/I. Conductivity
values ranged from 181 to 3100 micromhoslan. The TSS concentrations ranged from less than
1 to 1520 mg/l. These concentrations have a poor positive correlation with discharge. The
parameters showed no increasing or decreasing trends, when taking discharge into account,
during the period analyzed. pH remained fa'vly steady during this period; however, a slight
increase in pH occurted from 1985 to the presets. The pH remained well within the acceptable
• limits.
Site 002 is located wthin No Name GuIGr. In general, the water quality was similar to that al site
001. The average TDS concentration was 1158 mg/I with a range of 385 to 1720 mgll.
Conductivity ranged from 428 to one unusually high value of 8270 micromhos/cm.
• 4-222a
Pry- ~I
P~iaY 1 3 1998
