18
•
connai.ssance has covered the one mile blasting buffer on the project
perireter. Four prehistoric sites and one historic site have been
recorded in the project boundary. IJhile at least 18 sites are recorded
within a one mile perimeter of the project (BIM piaster Maps, Krermling)
none of these recorded sites are blasting-sensitive.
Recommendations for the sites within the project are as follows:
5JA333 Sudduth Coal Aline No further work
5JA383 Stone Circle Site No further work
SJA415 Possible buried campsite Avoidance
SJA416 Lithic scatter/cammpsite? Should this situation change, the
specific recommendations listed for each site should be followed.
It was noted earlier in this report that prehistoric site
densities seem to be higher on project perimeters than on the project
proper. The settlement pattern which is evident is that sites cluster
along adjacent rivers and major draws. Most of the Kerr property consists
of a high, relatively gently sloping divide between the Canadian aril
Michigan Rivers. The sites which do occur adjacent to or in the
project cluster along three major tributary washes of the Canadian
River: Stdduth Draw, Williams Draw, and Bush Draw. The remainder
of the property consists of high barren, relatively featureless, sagebrush-
