Acute Toxicity Level - Whole Effluent Toxicity (WET) Testing (004, 023, 024,
026 and 027)
Beginning immediately, there shall be no acute toxicity demonstrated in any
effluent concentration less than or equal to the instieam waste concentration
(IWC) of 100X.
Acute toxicity occurs when there is a statistically significant difference (P a
.OS, number of test organisms per dilution greater than or equal to 20) in the
mortality observed for either species between the control and any effluent
concentration. The statistical methods used shall be those in Short-Term
Methods For Estimatine The Chronic Toxicity Of Effluent and Receivine Waters To
Freshwater Or~ar.isms (EPA/600/4-85/014).
Also, beginning immediately, in no case shall mortality in any dilution of
effluent (including 100% effluent) exceed X07..
