In attendance at this meeting were representatives from
Getty Mining Company, U.S. Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Geological Survey's
Division of Water Resources, and Brian Munson of my staff.
I understand that under current plans the groundwater monitoring program would
continue through the 1986 field season. Because of current coal mining
activity in this area and the potential for additional mining in the future,
any long term groundwater monitoring at this site would be of value to future
permitting. If a responsible party could be identified to maintain and
monitor these wells beyond the 1986 season, the additional data would assist
the Division in determining the potential hydrologic impacts of mining in the
region.
If you wish to discuss this matter in any greater detail, please feel free to
contact me.
Sincerely,
~~
~~ l
Fred R.
