Reclamation efforts will follow the mining schedule outlined in
Exhibit C. Final reclamation will commence upon completion of the
operation. Reclamation will consist of removing rubbish and other debris
related to the operation and smooth grading the disturbed areas. Final pit
side slopes will be rough graded to no steeper than about 2.5:1. All
topsoil salvaged will then be replaced on the disturbed areas to a depth
ranging from about four to six inches. The disturbed areas will then be
reseeded.
Prior to seeding, any compacted areas will first be scarified. The
disturbed areas will then be seeded with the mixture appearing below. The
mixture includes species which are adapted to coarse and mixed soil
textures. The proposed mixture makes provisions for sod and bunch grasses.
The seeding rates are based on a density of 80 pure live seeds (PLS) per
square foot (broadcast rate), a rate recommended by the SCS for critical
area plantings of rangeland and pasture. Broadcast rates are primarily
given because of the observed coarse texture of the soils and the
performance uncertainty of a range drill in such soil types. For the
purposes of purchasing seed, a bulk rate is also given with the appropriate
pure live seed rate incorporated into the calculations. The seed will be
harrowed in or covered with a drag chain or similar measure in order to
give approximately 1/2 inch of soil cover.
