Canany
Glenwood Springs, CO 81601-4272 Acing Division Director
RE: Discharge Monitoring Reports
1st-4th Quarters 2001, 1st-3`d Quarters 2002
Rimrock Coal Company, #C-89-074
The Division of Minerals and Geology has reviewed the Discharge Monitoring Reports
for the Rimrock Strip Mine for the all off 2001 and the 1St 2"d and 3`d quarters of 2002.
These reports comply with the requirements of Rule 4.05.13(2)(a)(iii)(A) for submittal of
completed forms to meet NPDES permit requirements. The notation "No discharge"
agrees with the Division's observations through field inspections. However, the July
2002 DMG inspection revealed evidence that the pond discharged during a storm event
a few days prior to the inspection. Please ensure that your visits to check for pond
discharge meet the requirements of your Colorado Discharge permit and the discharges
are sampled when, and if, they occur.
We have no further questions at this time. Thank you for your diligence in pursuing your
monitoring and reporting as required.
Sin a fly,
K A. orham
Environmental Protection Specialist
CC: Dan Hernandez
