The attachments include both baseline data for water quality and some
additional test work results which complement information already submitted.
The attachments cover the following items:
1) Carlton Tunnel Discharge Records
2) Arequa Gulch (AG-2) Surface Water Analysis
3) Leachate Test Results on Spent Leach Pads
4) Detox Column Test -Cresson Ore
5) Additional Acid/Base Potential Tests for the Cresson Pit
1. The Carlton Tunnel Discharge Records as tabulated fora 20-year period provide
a comprehensive baseline of sub-surface water quality in the southern half of the
caldera, particularly around the Cresson Project impact area. The records reflect
both the uniform alkalinity of the discharge water and the low concentrations of
heavy metals in that water.
A copy of Permit Drawing D-3 -Drainage Tunnel Configurations is attached for
convenience. This drawing shows the relationship of the tunnel to the caldera
although the great number of interconnecting underground workings which form
a network of channels funnelling into the tunnel were omitted for clarity.
Only two metals have shown concentrations higher than permitted criteria through
the years, silver and zinc.
