UaowO;
Reference: Cresson Project; Permit M-80-244: Confirmation of Use of Pond # 6 Water For
Dust Suppression.
Dear Mr. Keffelew:
Thank you for obtaining approval of the use of Pond #6 water for dust suppression within the
Referenced Project area. In the request submitted by the Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining
Company ("CC&V"), it was also requested that CC&V be allowed to use water from Pond #6
for reclamation. Specifically, we requested that we be able to use the water for hydromulching
and for drip irrigation of the larger shrub and tree transplants that have recently been
established. Mr. Wanstedt recently indicated that verbal approval of the use for reclamation was
received. [n order that CC&V may be assured that use of water from Pond #6 is authorized by
your Office for (1) road dust suppression, for application of hydromulch, and for temporary drip
irrigation on recently-reclaimed areas, it would be most helpful if you could send [o CC&V a
confirmation of that authorization (as clarification of the authorization dated August 21, 1997
received by CC&V), or that you initial a copy of [his letter and return the copy to us to denote
your confirmation.
In your letter of August 21, 1997, you conveyed the recommendation that CC&V hold the use
of the water from Pond #6 to a minimum and that repeated use in the same areas be avoided.
In compliance with your recommendation, CC&V is instructing its water truck drivers to avoid
frequently repeated watering with the water currently in Pond #6. Water from Pond #6 will be
used throughout the site haul roads prior to repeating the application on an area. [f more water
