bluegrass and Orchardgrass appeared to be codominant species,
with Smooth brome, Western wheatgrass, and Yellow sweetclover
being of lesser importance.
Table 5 lists the cover values calculated from combining
all transects together. Perennial grasses, perennial forbs,
and shrubs contributed 24.5, 19.1, and 2.1 % absolute cover
respectively. Annual and noxious plant species combined for
0.6 % absolute and 1.2 % relative cover.
CONCLUSIONS -----------------------------------------------
The Refuse area is in year 5 of reclamation. The rest of
the mine site is in year 4. Average vegetative cover of 46.2
% over the whole site indicates healthy revegetetion,
especially considering that 98.9 % of that cover is attributed
to perennial, non-noxious plant species. Shrub have
established well except at the Refuse area and the Number 1
Mine New Fan site.
6
