Surface netting will reduce the erosion hazard. <br />Wildlife management considerations: <br />This map unit provides food, shelter and winter habitat for upland <br />game animals. <br />Fire management considerations <br />Susceptible to shrub and grass fires <br />Acid precipitation buffering capacity: high <br />Page 6 <br />It should be noted that in addition to the expected vegetative community the steep-slope areas contain <br />mountain big sagebrush and occasional Utah juniper, while the area below FDR 310 contains <br />serviceberry, ponderosa pine, Douglas fir, cottonwood, and rare Utah juniper. <br />More generally, most of the portion of the permit area northeast of FDR consists of moderate to <br />steep slopes, exceeding 35 °, with thin soil cover over weathered bedrock, mostly gypsum, and bare <br />rock outcrops of gypsum. Outcrops of sedimentary breccia, marble, and conglomerate are present <br />immediately upslope from the northeast permit boundary. Southwest of FDR 310 soils are thicker, <br />and are developed on alluvium and colluvium resulting from debris flows from an unnamed drainage <br />(known informally as "Red Canyon") east of the mine and from an ancient terrace of Avalanche <br />
