Native Vegetation
The aspect is open grassland. Western wheatgrass, needle-
and- thread, Indian ricegrass, and native bluegrasses make
up most of the plant community, with small percentages of
blue grams, sedges, Junegrass, Scribner needlegrass, green
needlegrass ( in places), and squirreltail. Other grasses
which may occur--but generally in very small amounts are
slender wheatgrass, mountain muhly, slimstem muhly, three-
awn and sand dropseed. Forbs make up 10% or less. Among
the most common forbs are eriogonum, loco, lupine. groundsel,
Wyoming paintbrush, and globemallow. Winter fat, fourwing
saltbush, Green's or Douglas rabbitbrush, and fringed sage-
brush usually occur as scattered plants. Yucca may be
noticeable but makes up a small percent of the annual
yield. There may be traces of spineless horsebrush, snake-
weed, and prickly pear. Scattered currant, gooseberry, or
skunkbush sumac may occur, especially on rocky inclusions
within the site.
Native Vegetation found at this site and estimated species
composition are:
Western lheatgrass 10%
Ring Muhly 10%
Snake Weed 5%
Fringe Sage 15%
Blue Grams 25%
squirreltail T
slimstem Muhly 20%
Range condition at this site is poor.
Total Annual Production
Favorable years 1000
Unfavorable years 400
Median years 750
pounds per acre air dry
n i~ n n n
u n n n n
Reclamation Plan
Material at this pit should make it easy to reclaim the area.
Material is very fine and will make a good seed bed.
