G ' ,~ Wallrock Silt Loam i ~ i / \~ /; Soil Unit X34 " '"~ The X34 series is a member of the fine loamy mixed Argic Cryoborolls. The soils are deep, moderately well drained, formed in lake bed materiels derived from the Antero formation, probably tertiary in age. P1ost of the soils occur south of Hartsel in level to nearly level swales. Slopes are 1 to 3 percent, Native vegetation consists of western wheat grass, slim stem muhly, and snake weed. Elevations are 8500 to 9`00 feet. lie an Annual precipitation is 13 to 16 inches. Mean annual summer soil temperature is less than 590F• The dark brown silt loam surface layer is about 4 inches thick. The subsoil is about 14 inches thick, range from very dark grayish brown silt to dark E;rayish brown loam,or sily clay loam. The substratum is light gray and dark grayish brown silt loam to clay loam, and extends to a depth of 60 inches or more. In some places this soil has a heavy sol B2t. Permeability is moderately slow. Available water holding capar.ity is high. The soils are used as native pastureland.
