Reclamation of the amended mine area will not be in one-acre increments. The earliest
area to be reclaimed will be the 9.8 acres in the original pit.
- 2. Due to the continuing drought conditions in Kiowa County, reclamation in the original
pit will not begin before May 2007 or until adequate moisture is received. Reclamation
will be carried out in the original pit according to the information already provided. After
the gravel pit has been fully utilized the County will move the top soil into the pit at an
average depth of twelve inches. Final grading will be achieved by using a bulldozer and a
grader to come up with the finish grade. Top soiling the site will be at an approximate
depth of two (2) to six (6) inches. The seed, fertilizer and mulch will be used according to
the reference from the USDA NRCS specifications.
We are in hopes that the above submitted information will cover all necessary regulations and that a
favorable approval will be made on the expansion of the Barnett Pit M-1991-074.
Sincerely,
Debra A. Immer
County Administrator
