REC'L~''i,~T10N SECTION
~ u!o. ue3t. of PVatural Resources
December 28, 1976
State of Colorado
Department of Natural Resources
Room 615, 1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203
Attn: Mr. G. F. Rindahl, Director
Mined Land Reclamation
Re: Application for Mining and Reclamation Permit
July 16, 1976 by DFC Ceramics, Inc.
Your reply of December 9, 1976
Dear Sir:
The above application has been reviewed with reference tc the
deficiencies noted in your letter of December 9, and an amendment
to the original application is attached.
Please note that our original application was in error in that
it included all of the 148 acres held in our mining lease.
Actually, mining in the past has been confined to a small portion
of the lease area. This will be even more true in the future,
as the amount of clay to be extracted is only a few hundred
tons per year instead of 3,000 to 6,000 tons as mined prior
to 1962.
Our amendment therefore covers only the 9-acre section on which
work is to be done. We believe this would fall under Section
34-32-110 (Limited impact operation) of the Mined Land Reclamation
Act rather than Section 34-32-112 designed for sizeable mining
operations. Our amendments are therefore as required under
Section 34-32-110.
Yours sincerely,
~ ~~~~
Toy Letter
Vice President and General Manager
TL/ss
encls
P.
