<br />EXHIBIT "B" <br />SITE DESCRIPTION <br />(a) Description of the vegetation and soil characteristics. <br />This pit area will be primarily in the streambed of the North Fork of the Arikaree River and Currie <br />Creek where there is not any vegetation now, and there will be none after mining is complete. <br />Vegetation on the surrounding area is composed primarily of: <br />blue grams <br />little bluestem <br />sideoats grams <br />needleandthread <br />western wheatgrass <br />There are 3 soil types: <br />KmD - KIMST, loamy slopes <br />TR - Travesilla, sandstone breaks <br />GN - Bankard, sandy bottomland <br />SCS information on these soils follows. <br />(b) Permanent man-made structures with 200 feet of the affected land. <br />There are no man-made structures on or within 200 feet of the affected land. However, there are <br />buried utility lines in the right-of--way of County Road 109. They consist of a buried power line, <br />buried fiber optic cable and telephone line. None of these are within 200 feet of [he subject <br />operation, and will not be notified unless required by the Division. <br />(c) Water resources in the area of operation. <br />This will be a dry pit operation with no water requirements. However, mining will take place in the <br />pit floor of the North Fork of the Arikaree River and Currie Creek. Average depth mined will be 4' - <br />5', but will not intrude into the water. A Corps of Engineer 404 permit will be acquired to cover this <br />operation. Other similar permitted operations are in place in the area and have set a precedent for <br />this type use. <br />B-1 <br />
