This water treatment plant supplies
daily domestic water demands to approximately 60,000 people
in the Grand Valley of Mesa County.
The District does not object to the quarry proposal but
does have some concern over the method(s) of operation.
The water treatment plant has substantial sub-surface
concrete features and facilities which may be subject to ground
transmitted shock waves resulting from dynamite blasting.
Two large diameter water mains deliver untreated water to the
treatment plant and two large diameter water mains deliver
treated water from the plant. Any or all of these water mains
may be subjected to heavily loaded truck traffic, resulting
from the quarry operation and may, therefore, require additional
protection.
Please provide the District with any "Operations Plan"
that has been or may be submitted.
Sincerely,
/~~/GG~
Charlie Stockton, Assistant Manager
Ute V7ater Conservancy District
CES/rlc
xc: Rudy Fontanari
Mesa County Planning Department
Tom Crumpton, Superintendent Treatment b Source/Ute Water
