~` ~ i
C~
The mining activity will progress. from the previously mined out
portion of the existing permitted area. in a Southerly direction. No
more than 70.000 yards of extractable material appears to remain in
the leased area. Routt County anticipates the extraction of no more
than 20.000 yards of material in each of the next three years of the
new lease. What little overburden and topsoil there is will be
separated and stockpiled on the floor of the previously mined area
that has not yet undergone reclamation. Scrapers. loaders. dozers,
motor graders. a gravel crusher, and a hot asphalt batch plant, will
all be used to the mining and processing operations.
The previously existing perforated pipe that was placed to divert any
ground waters has appearantly worked well. It shall be removed and
relocated at the proposed new Southern boundary.
Upon completion of the mining operation, Routt County shall replace
the overburden and topsoil to the maximum depth allowable by the
volume available. As stated in the application for the existing
permit, the pit has been in existence since prior to zoning in 1972.
As a result. much of the original topsoil and overburden are no
longer available. Only a limited amount of these materials were able
to be removed and stored in operations permitted by permit ,#79-58.
We anticipate being able to apply from 4 to 6 inches of overburden
and topsoil combined over the entire 9.9 acres at the completion of
mining acttvities. Regrading and revegetation shall be completed per
the Reclamation Plan, Exhibit E.
