Well GP-2 (IaM) water was above neutral in 2003. The field pH values for wells GP-
3 and GPI have shown little change for water collected from the HI and IQM aquifers,
respectively. Well GP-3 has generally had pH values near neutral, while values for well GPr4
have been around 9.
Wells GP-5 and GP-6 are completed in the QR aquifer. The field pH values from well
GP-5 are generally above 8, while the pH from well GP-6 is generally above 7.
The 2003 field pH values for HI aquifer well GP-7 were near neutral, while well GP-8
(IQ.M) water had field pH values near 8.0 in 2003. The 3rd White Sandstone aquifer well
GP-9 field pH values are typically near neutral.
The alluvial (P-i), Lewis Shale (P-3), 2nd White (P-5), and 3rd White Sandstone (P-
8) wells in Pyeatt Gulch all ~ntain water with field pH that is generally near neutral. The
field pH values for well 81-03A are generally above 8 units. The field pH values for the
GLUX-1 well were slightly less than 8 in 2003. The field pH for well GMP-i was above
neutral in 2003. The 2003 monitoring did not detect any indication of development of acidic
water in the Trapper Mine ground water.
3.4 NH3 AND NO,
Concentrations of ammonia and nitrate are presented in Appendix B, starting on
page B-179. In general, wncentrations of ammonia vary significantly from year to year.
Wells GD-2, GE-1, GF-S, GF-6, GF-7, 81-03A, GLUX-1 and P-1 all contained NH3
concentrations that are greater than 1.0 mg/I in 2003. Several of these wells are located
away from mining and contain natural levels of NH3 concentrations. All of the NH3
i
3-10
