(HGTI), please find
enclosed the 1998 1st Quarter Pond Inspection Reports for the Truck Loop Pond (OOlA)
and the Rail Loop Pond (002A) at HGTI's Hayden Gulch Loadout facility, Permit No. C-
92-081.
Both pond inspection reports have been certified by a professional engineer. As you are
aware, HGTI submitted a permit Technical Revision (TR) application to the Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology (CDMG) on October 31, ]997 so that Pond 002's
embankment can be raised in order co satisfy Rule 4.05.6(11)(e). CDMG's proposed decision
for approving the TR was sent to HGTI in a transmittal dated February 19, 1998. As
weather conditions permit the pond embankment will be modified as noted under the
Maintenance Required section of the pond inspection report.
Conditions were normal and no problems were observed. Both contributing watersheds
were generally free of snow cover. Discharge was observed from both ponds on March 17,
1998 and NPDES samples were collected. and analyzed. The quarterly discharge monitoring
report has been sent to DMG under separate cover. If you have any questions, please do not
hesitate to call either of the undersigned.
Sincerely,
Montgomery Wa[Ison Americas, Inc.
C ~QUe -
J n C.
