The Water Quality Control Division of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has <br />scheduled a second public meeting in San Luis from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, August 21st, to hear comments <br />from interested parties on its intent to issue a permit to Battle Mountain Gold Company and Battle <br />Mountain Resources, Inc. (BMRq. The request for the second public meeting was made by BMRI in <br />anticipation of the second public notice of the draft permit on August 4, 2000. The draft permit would <br />authorize two discharges to Rito Seto Creek in the immediate vicinity of BMRI's closed gold mining <br />operation located approximately 3.5 miles north of San Luis on Rito Seco Road. One discharge to the Rito <br />Saco is from BMRI's ground water treatment facility located at the inactive mine's West Pit near Rito Seco <br />Road. The second discharge is to the Rito Seco alluvial aquifer in the immediate vicinity of, and <br />downstream from, the West Pit. <br />The meeting location is pending.
