Wyoming Fuel, 8505-087-094
for use in the toxicity teat.
2.4 Test Methods
The test was conducted according to U. S. Environmental
Protection Agency (1985) guidelines. Testing was conducted in
100 x 50 mm crystallization dishes containing 200 mL of test
solution. Test solutions (6.25, 12.5, 25, 50, and 100 percent
effluent) were renewed daily with freshly prepared dilutions of
the initial effluent sample. At test initiation ten neonates
were randomly distributed to each container and two replicates
were tested per treatment concentration. Ceriodaohnie sp. were
not fed during the teat. The teat was conducted at 20 C under
fluorescent lighting with a photoperiod of 16 hours light and 8
hours dark.
In addition to the effluent test, a reference toxicant
(sodium dodecyl sulfate) test was also conducted with ERT's in-
house Ceriodaohnie sp. during the month of May, 1988 to
determine the sensitivity range of the test organisms.
2.5 Dete Anelvsis
The LC50's and 95 % confidence limits were calculated, where
possible, using en IHM compatible personal computer and software
(USEPA 1985) which utilized the following statistical methods:
moving average, probit, and binomial probability. The method
selected for reporting the test results was determined by the
characteristics of the data, i. e., the presence or absence of 0
7
