<br />4.0 Refuse Site Reference Area Description <br />4.1 Refuse Site Description <br />The refuse area is located west of the mine portal on a <br />mesa top (elevation ranee 6250-63$0) with an east exposure. <br />Open grasslands is the only vegetation type found on the site. <br />The entire area shows evidence of previous surface disturbance <br />and overgrazing. The area is an active refuse dump. <br />A reference area adjacent to the refuse site on the north <br />side was established. The area was chosen because there was <br />very little evidence of previous surface disturbance and the <br />elevation, topography, slope and vegetation is similar to the <br />disturbed area. The area will be fenced to protect it from <br />future disturbance• Sample data is listed in 't'ables 2 and 3. <br />4.2 Sample Adequacy <br />Samplin¢ was done according to the methods described in <br />• unit 2.0. A total of 46 samples were taken.
