• 3.4 for the embankments IO to I 1 feet in height and a factor of safety of 5.9 was calculated for the'five-foot high
embankment.
After [he stability analyses were conducted using the assumed values given above, we back calculated the strength
parameters until we reached a factor of safety of 1.3. At a factor of safety of 1.3, the unit weight of the soil was 100
pcf, the cohesion value (c') ranged from 100 to 200 psf and the effective angle of intemal friction ranged from 16 [o
18 degrees for the embankments ranging from 10 to 11 feet in height. At a factor of safety of 1.3, the unit weight of
[he soil was 100 pcf, the cohesion value (c') was 100 psf and the effective angle of internal friction was 3 degrees for
the five-foot high embankment. The results of the stability analysis are summarized in Appendix A.
LIMITATIONS
The conclusions and recommendations submitted in this report are based upon our observations made at the subject
sites, as well as the assumed soil strength parameters. The nature and extent of variations between the soil types and
conditions may considerably from those assumed above.
