the property owner, since they are firmly affixed to
the realty.
b. The work area will be contoured to permit
seeding with native or other species as recommended
by the United States Soil Conservation Service.
Presently, neither the U.S.G.S. nor the Forest Service
possess specific soils data for the mine area. Though
bedrock is very near the surface in parts of the mine
area, the majority of the work area contains sufficient
topsoil to permit seeding of the recommended species.
Soil analysis will be performed prior to seeding to
determine whether soil minerals favor the introducticn
of one species over another.
The Soil Conservation Service recommends that
a combination of smooth brome, timothy, mountain brome,
orchard grass, slender wheat and wheat grass should
effectively establish plant cover at this altitude. Native
trees will be planted on the work site to enhance aesthetic
appeal, and to blend as closely as possible with surrounding
vegetation.
c. No disturbance is anticipated of the slopes of the
existing dump area. As part of reclamation activity, how-
ever the slopes will be contoured or stabilized in such a
manner as not to threaten reclamation work done on th= work
area. The aim of this work will be to prevent gullying of
the dump slopes. Past experience has demonstrated this to
be a relatively minimal problem on this site. If nec=ssary,
cribbing or terracing with railroad ties will be installed.
- 3 -
