Whenever accumulations of methane results from unscheduled stoppage of <br /> <br /> <br />tC <br /> <br />the main fan, the methane is to be removed after normal mine ventilation <br />is restored by directing the air current into the place by use of line <br />;. <br />brattice. ~_' <br />The auxiliary fans are not operated in any place during stoppage of nor- <br />mal mine ventilation. <br />If the auxiliary fan is stopped or fails for any reason, the electrical <br />equipment in the face will be stopped and the power disconnected until <br />ventilation is restored. <br />All ventilation during idle periods or when the auxiliary fan is stopped <br />for any reason, will be by directing the primary air current to the face <br />by the use of tine brattice. <br />When the air passing through the auxiliary fan or tubing, or behind line <br />brattice contains 1.0 volume per centum or more of methane, adjustments <br />are to be made immediately to bring the concentration of methane below <br />1.0 volume per centum. While adjustments are made, all power to the <br />electrical face eugipment will be cut off and no work will transpire in the <br />affected place except to lower the concentration of methane. <br />Line curtains will be hung before the auxiliary fan is shut off or the tu- <br />bing is removed from the entry. <br />The installation and use of auxiliary fans and the anticipated air quanti- <br />ties are included in the section and face ventilation system maps. <br />The auxiliary fans being used are CSE Model 24-18, Two Stage Vaneaxial <br />fans. These fans are equipped with 20 Hp motors and operate at 3450 RPM. <br />Blade pitch is not adjustable. Free discharge capacity of these fans is' <br />12,000 CFM. . <br />Fiberglass tubing, 12 inch minimum dameter, is being used with auxiliary <br />fans. 'Tubing will be kept within 10 ft. of the face. <br />Machine mounted diffusers are not used in the mine. <br />-12- <br />
