2.05 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR UNDERGROUND
MINING ACTIVITIES -- MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR
OPERATION AND RECLAMATION PLANS
2.05.1 Ob.iectives
The objectives of this Section are to ensure that the Division is
provided with comprehensive and reliable information on the planned
surface and coal mining operations, and to ensure that those operations
will be allowed to be conducted in compliance with the Colorado Rules
and Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, Article 33 of Title
34, as amended, Colorado Revised Statutes of 1973.
2.05.2 Operation Plan - Estimated Area for Life of Operation
Sunbelt plans to permit the area for the first five years of operations.
Planned underground mining will involve approximately 11 years of mining
at the anticipated annual average production rate of 50,000 tons of coal
• per year. For purposes of this application, although Sunbelt is only
requesting a five year permit term, the mining and reclamation plan
identifies all mining within the A Coal Seam. Sunbelt will submit
information regarding the detailed mining plans with future 5-year
permits. Details of the operational plan are delineated in Section
2.05.3.
Sunbelt will employ detailed and current engineering design for all
underground mining activities in order to maximize recovery. Methods of
coal recovery are set forth in Section 2.05.3.

2.05-1
