Probably my greatest concern
me on Monday is the eventual
of the "French Drains" that
entire property. I am sure
satisfactory to all parties
willing to study the problem
reach that solution.
with plans Ben and Dave showed
lining of the pits and location
could permanently dewater my
that a solution that is
is available but we need to be
and be willing to compromise to
In addition to fisheries management problems created by
lowering water levels it becomes difficult or impossible to
gain access to fishing and other activities for senior
citizens and the mobility impaired. Special ramps, docks and
bridges that allow access are rendered useless, left high and
dry, by lower water levels.
I hired the firm RBD Engineers of Fort Collins to set an
Elevation Bench Mark on the Ponds property. That has been
accomplished. The purpose of this Bench Mark is to more
specifically be able to monitor changes in water levels of
the Ponds as mining operations occur in the area. This same
Bench Mark will also be used to measure any downgradient
effects of French drains and pond linings that might effect
underground water levels. This information will be available
upon request.
In order to preserve the purpose for this unique property it
is imperative to limit water elevation fluctuation of the
Ponds by new adjacent gravel pit operations.
I have for you a list of various species of fish in the Ponds
and pond identification for each species. As you can see, I
am seeking protection fo a 'or community resource not
otherwise availabJ,e~in he ly ited States.
Respectfully Su
Louis F.
