Emling Company
Mining Engineers and Geologists
7800 East Union Ave., Suite 420
Denver. Colorado 80237
Dear Mr. Lewicki:
5/13/83
SO1~ TEST ~
Attached are soil descriptions, a map and profile descriptions of the
Sundance Coal Company sample area outlined in yellow. Also attached are
soil descriptions taken in the trailor park area. The major Sample area
is primarily the Louviers soil with lesser amounts of Rombo soils. The
average depth of soil material is 17 inches. The material is primarily
clay or clay loam with percent clay particles usually exceeding 40% of
the matrix. Slopes are extremely steep with all but two of the sample
sites averaging from 35 to 65 percent. Slightly more soil material has
accumulated adjacent to drainageways. Care needs to be taken to prevent
removal of soft shale bedrock with topsoil. Since there is an overall
scarcity of soil material, horizons should not be separated ie, they can
be stock-piled together.
If you have any further questions, please let me know.
Sincerely,
ee A.
