<br />SECTION II Soils Inventory <br />Soils Descriptions <br />C3F MSdnlght-Aombo Complex 35 to 50~ slopes. <br />Those soils are shallow and moderately deep, 10 to 40 Snches <br />to weathered shale. Texture Ss clay loam which grades to ahaly <br />clay loam with depth. It is non-calcareous and neutral to <br />about 15 inches. Channery stones on the surface vary from few <br />to many. Soil moisture and plant roots penetrate deep into the <br />fractured shale. Bands of Snterbedded sand stone comprise about <br />ten (10) percent of the area. (Rocky Foothill Range Site). <br />PjE Louviera-Priata-Fort Collins Complex, 5 to 3596 slopes, <br />About 6$~ of the area is shallow (less than 20 inches to Snter- <br />hedded sandstone and shale) and has a very stony loam surface <br />layer. These shallow soils have clay loan subsoils std are non- <br />calcareous and neutral throughout. The shallow stony soils occur <br />on ridges and are easily located by the abucdance of pinyon trees. <br />About 20~ of the area is Fort Collins Loam and Ss deep, 40" to <br />60" or more to sandstone or stole and occurs along drainways. <br />This deep soil has a loam or very fine sandy loam surface. A clay <br />loam subsoil and Ss noncalcanous and neutral to 20 inches or more. <br />A few stones are commonly encountered In the profile, Deep soils <br />occur Sn open grassy parks. About 15~ of the area is rock outcrop. <br />LfD Fort Collins Loam, 3 to 9A slopes. <br />This is a deep soil, noncalcareous a[d neutral to about 28 Inches, <br />The surface grades from very fine sardy loam to loam and is about <br />eight (8) inches thick. The blocky, clay loam subsoil extends <br />to 38 inches. The urderlying material Sa loam or light clay <br />loam. This soil occurs along upland drainwaya and is commonly <br />disected by a deep V shaped gully. Sandstone bedrock is exposed <br />Sn places along the Bullied areas. Mater Sntake rate Ss moderate. <br />Runoft la rather rapid on these sloping soils. yater holding <br />capacity is 2 to 2} inches par toot of soil depth and is highest <br />in the clay lose subsoil. <br />Clic Limon-Gaynor silty clay loans, 4 to 12 percent elopes. These soils <br />are moderately deep and deep to shale. Soils are calcareous and <br />moderately a1ka11ne, Texture is silty clay loam. Steeper slopes <br />are cut by deep gullies.
