• SOILS ANALYSIS SUMMARY
Section 2.04.6(2) states the reclamation plan will provide a
monitoring plan to delineate any unsuitable areas of regraded
overburden with respect to pH. The suitable range for subsoil pH
is 5.5 to 8.5. The pH range for marginal subsoil is 5.0 to 9.0.
As the mine pits were regraded to approximate original contour,
subsoil samples were taken to detect any unsuitable areas. The
upper three feet of regraded overburden was sampled. Two
representative samples, each representing an eighteen inch depth
was collected on approximately a 300-foot grid center. The
location of the subsoil samples are presented on Map 135-A.
If the pH of a sample was less than 5.0 then the subsoil was
regraded in order to more thoroughly mix the subsoil. The
subsoil was then resampled.
The results of the soil analysis are presented on the following
pages beginning on page 7-33. Unsuitable subsoil was encountered
in two places, subsoil samples number 2 b 21. Both of the areas
represented by these samples were reworked. After the areas were
reworked and regraded, the areas were resampled and found to have
suitable pH values.
CJ
C~
J
7-32 September 1994
