Although the original sampling schedule called for more frequent sampling events, these <br />site have been sampled quarterly since June 1999. <br />Because discharge from the evaporation pond is no longer a planned part of closure activities at Logan Wash <br />Mine and DMG has approved the mine's retort closure and reclamation plans, GSHI intends to terminate the <br />Logan Wash Surface Water Monitoring Program. Shut-in (close the valves) of the retorts is scheduled for <br />February 2000, in accordance with DMG approval. <br />The following enclosures are provided for your review: <br />1. Attachment A: Proposed Closure Plan for the Logan Wash Mine Retorts -Technical Revision No. 2 <br />2. Attachment B: Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology letter dated October 25, 1999 <br />3. Attachment C: Logan Wash Surface Water Monitoring and Data Analysis Plan <br />4. Attachment D: Logan Wash Surface Water Sampling Results. <br />GSHI requests CDPHIi's written concurrence in retort closure and termination of the surface-water program <br />within 30-days. HLA will submit the required documents needed to inactivate the NPDES sampling sites at <br />Logan Wash Mine in the near future.
