`J <br /> <br />EXHIBIT E - RECLAMATION PLAN NARRATIVE (CONTINUED) <br />(Revised 02/07/95) <br />Reseeding <br />Approximately 12" of topsoil/overburden material shall be <br />utilized for revegetation, except along the South Platte River <br />Berm Area, where 6" will be utilized to cover existing non- <br />vegetated areas west and north of the future reservoir bank <br />for reseeding along the S. Platte River channel area. The <br />following seed mixture shall be planted for permanent <br />revegetation in all areas proposed for revegetation: <br />Grasses % of Mix PLS Per Acre <br />Western wheatgrass, Barton 20% 3.2 <br />Streambank wheatgrass, Sodar 10% 1.1 <br />Slender wheatgrass, common 10% 1.1 <br />Switchgrass, Blackwell 10% .5 <br />Little bluestem 10% .7 <br />Blue gram, Covington 10% .6 <br />Sideoats grama, Vaughn 10% .9 <br />Cicer Milk vetch, Monarch 10% 1.3 <br />Total Pure Live Seed (PLS) per acre 9.4 <br />Seeding will occur in either the fall or spring, and will be <br />repeated in either the next fall or spring if necessary. Other <br />detail on seeding may be found in the accompanying recommendations <br />as outlined in the letter in EXHIBIT I/J <br />400 shrubs, 200 trees of 1" caliper or greater, and 200 tree <br />seedlings planted in the Rivers's ox-bow in northwest portion of <br />Area 2A along the east side of the River. 200 shrubs and 100 trees <br />of 1" caliper or greater will be planted along other periphery <br />areas around the lake area(s). Not more than 60% of the 200 1" or <br />greater caliper of the deciduous trees may be Cottonwood and Willow <br />species. The remaining 40% of the 200 1~' or greater caliper of <br />deciduous trees shall be other species of deciduous trees such as <br />American Plum, Western Catalpa, Green Ash, Hackberry, Honey Locust, <br />or other adapted deciduous trees, except Russian Olive trees which <br />are excluded. Not more than 10% of any one type of shrubs may be <br />utilized. Typical shrubs which may be considered included Antelope <br />Bitterbrush, Hansen Rose, Rabbit Bush, Honeysuckle, Skunkbush <br />Sumac, Lilac, Snowberry, Buffaloberry, Cistena Cherry, Manchiv <br />Cherry, Bluestem Willow, Golden Current, or other adapted species. <br />Shrubs will be in 5 gallon containers. For bond release requests, <br />a minimum survival rate of 50% of the trees and shrubs within any <br />area proposed for release must be demonstrated at the time of <br />release. <br />
