CEBPR-CO-O December 23, 1993
PIIHLIC NOTICE NIIMBER 199375251
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The applicant constructed a drop
structure at the upper end of the bank erosion site in 1992 under
the authority of a regional permit for streambank and streambed
stabilization. This structure has not provided erosion
protection, and the bank continued to erode at an accelerated
rate during the 1993 spring runoff period. If additional bank
protection measures are not implemented prior to 1994 spring
runoff, the river may capture the existing gravel extraction
site.
The applicant has requested water quality certification from the
State of Colorado, Department of Health in accordance with
Section 401 of the CWA. Written comments concerning water
quality certification should be submitted to Mr. J. Robert Owen,
Planning and Standards Section, Colorado Department of Health,
4300 Cherry Creek Drive, Denver, Colorado 80222-1830, on or
before December 23, 1993.
The Colorado Department of Health also reviews each project with
respect to the anti-degradation provisions of state regulations.
For the project which is the subject of this public notice, the
Colorado Department of Health has preliminarily determined that
this project will cause only temporary changes in water quality.
For further information regarding anti-degradation provisions,
please contact Mr. Owen at the Colorado Department of Health,
(303) 692-3579.
Written comments on this permit application should be submitted
to the District Engineer, at the address listed above, prior to
the expiration date of this public notice. Please furnish a copy
of your written comments to Mr. Ken Jacobson, Western Colorado
Regulatory Office, U.S. Army Engineer District, Sacramento, 402
Rood Avenue, Room 142, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501-2563.
The latest published version of the National Register of Historic
Places and its monthly supplements have been reviewed and there
are no places either listed or recommended as eligible which
would be affected. Presently unknown cultural resources may be
located in the permit area.
L
