4.2.5 Adeouate Cover <br />• It is not anticipated that fugitive duet will be a problem <br />with this moist material. However, if it does appear to be e <br />problem, a daily application of at least 6" of sandy clays <br />will be bladed over the exposed ash. 'T'here is an unlimit d <br />amount of this_materiel in the immediate vicinity. Assuming a <br />delivery of~00 ubic yards/day of ash placed in a five foot <br />deep layer, 10 feet wide and 54 feet long, a 6" cover will <br />require 1OX54X.5 10 yards of covering material. <br />27 <br />Intermediate cover is not considered necessary. <br />4.2.6 Final Cover <br />At .a minimum Copra is required to replace 3 feet of topsoil in <br />all areas including the ash pits. This topsoil consists of <br />eolian sands with silt and organic material. There will be no <br />erosion because these pits will be reclaimed to less than a Sx <br />grade. The cover material will come from other parts of the <br />mine or from stockpiles. There is twice as much topsoil <br />presently being saved as is required for 3 feet of cover, <br />Assuming each pit will be used for six months or 18,000 cubic <br />- yards 25' deep and 120' wide, the length of these pits will be <br />25X120XL 18,000 c.y. L = 162'. Therefore topsoil <br />27 <br />requirement will be 3X120X162 2,160 cu. yds., a minor part <br />27 <br />Ezx> of the total topsoil required to reclaim epproximatel;~ 20 <br />acres e- r six months. Disposal sites will be no more than <br />`~1/2 acre in ea. <br />4.2.7 Water <br />Coors does not anticipate that nny water will be used for <br />construction purposes. Fugitive dust, if any, will be <br />controlled by covering the ash with overburden as described in <br />4.2.5 and 4.2.6. <br />Coors does have two water wells and pit water sumps which <br />could be used if necessary. <br />Water use et the Keenesburg Mine has been limited to the <br />following activities: <br />- Reclamation Revegetation <br />- Dust suppression, ash disposal operations. <br />- Office, Shop, Drilling, and other needs <br />- Evaporation <br />A) Reclamation Revegetation - Irrigation <br />. Irrigation wnter for reclamation revegetetion will be obtained <br />from non tributary and tributary sources. A Bauer Rainstar <br />single nozzle head sprinkler system hoe been used to irrigate <br />approximately 40 acres of land annually. For an average <br />precipitation year, approximately 16.70 ac-ft of water is used <br />to irrigate newly seeded areas on reclamation. Precipitation <br />during the irrigation season averages 3.93 inches. <br />-2- <br />
