Revise3 1/11/80
M Section 816.46(a) Continued
The values used by Leonard Rice Consulting Water l~gineers, Inc.
(LWCi4E) in the USLE sediment volume calculations are conservative.
Sediment delivery ratios were taken fran two references, which are
located in Exhibit 13. The 5 square mile basin tributary to pond
A had sediment delivery ratios of 0.2 to 0.3 for undisturbed
lands, and 0.3 to 1.0 for disturbed areas. The overall sediment
delivery ratio of 0.41 for the basin is conservative. From the
attached references a ratio of 0.20 would be appropriate for 5
squaze miles, based on the best fit clove of available data. Data
range from 0.07 to 0.50 for 5 squaze miles. The Haan & Barfield
reference has been added to Appendix A, Sedimentation Section, of
EXhibit 13.
In other USLE calculations (Ponds B through T), sediment delivery
ratios of 0.5 to 1.0 were used. Their selection was based on azea
and location relative to the pond or drainage way feeding the pond.
We feel they are sufficiently conservative and do not need further
adjustment.
Sediment density was taken as the average of densities reported in
the SCS Technical Release 12, page S0, a copy of which is attached.
The table was also included in the Appendices A and B of Exhibit 13.
The sediment delivered to the ponds should be a mixture of clay,
Exhibit 8p 816-45(x) 12/13/99
