geomorphic and water availability criteria, and further that
no alluvial valley floors which migh exist in the general area
would be adversely affected by mining operations.
From the initial reconnaissance, it was determined that the
drainages in the general area are extremely narrow or contain
too much topographic relief in the form of slopes to be considered
capable of being irrigated. The general geomorphic features also
indicate a lack of any unconsolidated deposits within the drainages.
As indicated in Section 2.04.3, the historical pre-mining land
use of the permit area and adjacent areas has been undeveloped
rangeland. The description under Section 2.04.10 documents the
vegetation type in the permit area. There has not been a developed
water supply for agricultural activities to expand upon and hence
the historical use as rangeland has not been improved upon.
• No flood irrigation has been conducted in the drainages in the
permit area or adjacent areas. Because of the geomorphic nature
of the drainages, the possibility of any subirrigation from ground
water appears to be limited or non-existent.
Presently, GEC Minerals, Inc. is working with J. F. Sato Associates,
a SOAP contractor, to identify any possible existence of alluvial
valley floors within the adjacent areas as part of its detailed
study of surface and ground water hydrology. The results of the
SOAP work will be submitted to the Division upon completion;
however, the area does not appear to meet any of the criteria
necessary to establish the presence of an alluvial valley floor.

2.06-2a
(Revised 2/19/81)
