• At this stage of the project we would recommend the
continuation of the performed monitoring of water use and
discharge from the mine. In addition to the discharge monitoring
it would be advisable to collect a water sample from the mine
face sump twice annually and to perform a more complete analysis.
A list of parameters for the laboratory analysis of water should
be discussed with the Colorado MLRD.
When the mine expands further toward the northeast, and if
the water inflow substantially increases, it would be advisable
to establish a more complete monitoring system. The type of
future monitoring should be discussed with the Colorado MLRD. In
the discussion with MLRD the following factors should be
stressed:
o Insignificant quantity of water flowing into
the mine;
o Good water quality of the water discharged
from the mine;
o Absence of adjudicated surface and ground
water rights which could be impacted by the
mining activities.
