Box 653 - Caribou
Nederland, CO 8(1466-0653
Re: tJotice of Prospecting Activity, Cross Mine, File No. M-77-4311
Dear Mr, Hendricks:
In response to your letter dated April 23, 1990. I am providing ;you with the
following three (3) comments for consideration on the surface core drilling
proposed:
1. If the land area disturbed is 1600 square feet or less, and there are no
more than two of these units of disturbance per acre, then you are exempt
from filing a Notice of Intent to Conduct Prospecting. I have enclosed
an information brochure on prospecting and the size exemption for your
reV'IeW.
2. If the core drilling is e;:9ected to disturb more than 1600 square feet
and the area is within your approved Dermit boundary for the Cross Mine,
you can submit a technical revision (Rule 1.9) to modify the mine plan
and reclamation plan to include the exploration activity.
3. If the area is greater than 1600 square feet and outside the permit
boundary, you can either submit an amendment to the permit to include the
activity, or submit a Notice of Intent to Conduct Proscecting (NOI) and
corresponding bond. Amendments are described under Rule 1.8 and
Prospecting under Rule 5. I have attached an NOI form for y9ur review.
If you fall under the situation described in No. 3, there are advantages to
either procedure we could discuss. .: `. you have any questions, please feel
free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Jo~~Doerfer Z
Reclamation Specia is~t~
JTD/ ern
Enclosure(s)
cc: Steve Renner, MLRD
6491E
