Long
Divrsion Director
12E: Public Comment Letters, Parkdale Project - 112 Permit Application, File No. M-97-OSd
Dear Mr. Gast:
Recently the Division received three letters of comment regarding the proposed Parkdale Project. Copies are
enclosed for your reference. These letters are from Mark N. Brown, Joe Greiner (Wilderness Aware), and
Susan Steers.
The letters from Mr. Brown and Mr. Greiner are follow-up letters to copies of letters these men originally sent
to the Division referencing a conditional use permit. Their letters, with changes now reference the Parkdale
Project Reclamation Permit Application. Mr. Greiner's letter states in part that he would like to see the permit
denied. His letter is considered to be an objection to issuance of a reclamation permit. Mr. Brown's letter
asks for public hearings on the application. With objections to the application, a hearing process will begin
which will culminate in a formal public hearing before the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board. The
Board will make the final decision on the application.
Ms. Steers has referenced a conditional use permit. She will be contacted to determine if she wants her
comments directed toward the Parkdale Project Reclamation Permit Application. It is assumed she does since
she indirectly speaks of our division's regulations and requirement for a permit.
I recommend that you contact these individuals and discuss with them their concerns regarding the proposed
Parkdale Project.
Sincerely,
~~'~ 0~~-
Larry D.
